Melissa Aytan will become part of the Jan Juc-Torquay Chiropractic Clinic team in the new year and is certified Functional Nutritionist with a Bachelor of Applied Science, practicing on the Surf Coast. She brings over 10 years of experience in the wellness field and has been specifically trained to analyse and interpret functional lab results which helps customize treatment plans suited to individuals.
Functional Nutrition is a type of detective work that seeks to identify the underlying causes of disease and conditions instead of treating symptoms. Using state of the art functional lab work identifies healing opportunities and engages each client in a health building process using potent, proven, professional protocols. This includes Diet, Rest, Exercise, Smart Supplementation, Essential oils and Stress Reduction. This natural, holistic approach yields the highest level of positive clinical outcomes.
The functional lab work Mel uses looks for dysfunction with hormones, immunity, digestion, detoxification, food allergies and intolerances and intestinal barrier systems. Mel then works with her patients to rebuild these systems to function effectively and efficiently and symptoms start to subside and disappear.
Mel understands not every patient needs a deep investigation into their physiology with testing and sometimes it may be a nutrition and lifestyle plan that will help her patients achieve their goals of wellness.
Mel has had to navigate her own emotional journey with infertility and personally understands the frustration of moving from practitioner to practitioner and not getting answers. After her own healing journey Mel is now the mother of a beautiful toddler girl and baby boy.
Her special interests in clinic are;
- Thyroid health
- Gut health
- Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
- General health and well-being
- Eating sensibly and educating clients on the conflicting information that is rife
